Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I get an invitation to Top Flight Academy?
- Admittance into out Top Flight program is based on several factors, including UTR, age, skill, dedication and experience. Players who are new to the program must call Mimi (Top Flight Academy Coordinator) for registration and information. Call 248-253-9300, or email: mimi@wessenitc.com to find out more and possibly set up an evaluation.
- How do I schedule an evaluation?
- We schedule evaluations during Fall Session I, Monday-Thursday, 4:30-6:30 PM. Students will participate in the class and be evaluated by the coaches. The cost is $60 and is paid at the time of scheduling. Sign-up for an evaluation online, or call 248-253-9300. IMPORTANT: Players must have had ample previous instruction and be able to serve, volley, and maintain a medium-to-high-paced top-spin rally to be evaluated.
- I don’t have a UTR rating. What can I do?
- All players are required to have a UTR rating. Every time that you play in a USTA tournament or UTR event, your results will count toward your UTR rating. It takes 5 UTR or USTA matches to acquire a verified rating. You can achieve a verified rating in the following ways:
- participate in our weekly Top Flight UTR Match Play – Each match play event guarantees 2 matches, so if you participate in 3 match play events, you will have 6 matches and achieve a verified rating. Top Flight Academy students received a reduced rate of $30 for match play events.
- participate in UTR Team Tennis – If you sign up for and participate in UTR Team Tennis, you will have qualified for the rating requirement.
- play in a USTA or UTR tournament – All tournament results are reflected in the UTR rating system.
- If you are admitted to Top Flight Academy through an evaluation but do not have a UTR rating, you will be required to have a verified rating before you can register for the program.

- How many days per week is Top Flight?
- Top Flight Academy is offered four-days-per-week, Monday-Thursday, 4:30-6:30 PM. Students can sign up for one, two, three or four days per week. Players must choose the days that they will be attending, as days are not interchangeable. We have a strict player:instructor ratio, so students must stick to the day(s) that they have registered for. Students that register for a minimum of two days per week are eligible for free walk on court time. LEARN MORE
- What if I miss a class?
- We do not guarantee that you will be able to get a makeup class. If you miss one of your classes, you can try to fit in to one of our scheduled makeup opportunities. Makeup classes are an extra “bonus” that we offer for our participants. We have limited classes with limited capacity, and sign-ups are on a first-come, first-serve basis. MAKEUP POLICY
- There is only one makeup allowed per session. We realize that the time/date of the makeup classes will not be convenient for everyone. Make-up classes are a courtesy offered to our patrons. We hope that you can make it to one of the scheduled makeup dates, however, please remember that they are based on availability and are not guaranteed. Please note that our desk staff cannot change this policy.
- How do I schedule a makeup class?

- I know that I am going to miss a couple of classes due to a family vacation. Can I get a discount for classes missed?If you are going to be missing classes at the BEGINNING of a session, we can prorate the fee to begin the second week of the session. Anything further than that, you will need to wait to register when you are able to participate. If you are going to miss classes in the middle or end of a session, you will not be prorated. Wessen ITC offers opportunities for one makeup class per session, which can be scheduled online through our website. - How do I use my membership and free walk on court time?
- Twice-per-week players need to call or stop by the desk one hour or less before play. The desk staff will reserve your court. Walk-on courts are booked in one-hour increments. LEARN MORE
- What is a session?
- Our programs are separated into sessions. Session lengths vary and are noted in the description. Sessions are based on the high school varsity tennis and public school calendar. We do not base our sessions on religious holidays. If your religious holiday compels you to miss a class, you can make up the class by requesting a makeup on our website. Request Makeup Makeup Policy

- We have six separate sessions throughout the indoor season:
- FALL I (6 weeks), FALL II (6weeks), WINTER I (6 weeks), WINTER II (6 weeks), SPRING I (6 weeks) and SPRING II (6 weeks)
- We offer “Complete Sessions” that provide an added discount, as well as secure the day(s) for the student. Complete sessions combine three 6week sessions. When you choose a complete session, it is not possible to amend the number of days after registration. If there is room on another day, you can change the days of your package, however you cannot drop a day. If after the session begins, you decide to add a day, the additional day(s) will be added as regular 7 week sessions.
- 1st Half Complete Session (18 weeks)
- 2nd Half Complete Session (18 weeks)
- We offer “Special Varsity Session” that provide the same discount as our complete sessions. This is reserved for JV and Varsity players that cannot sign-up for the full 18 weeks due to team commitments.
- Boys’ Varsity Session: (12 weeks)
- Girls’ Varsity Session: (6 weeks)
- Can I come for an additional day?
- If there is room, you can come for a drop-in. The drop-in rate for a 2-hour class is $75. Please contact mimi@wessenitc.com or call 248-253-9300 and ask for Mimi.
- What is priority registration?
- For our Fall II, Winter and Spring sessions, we offer priority registration for current students that want to sign up for the same class.
“PRIORITY REGISTRATION: Students enrolled in a class have an opportunity to register for the following session ahead of the general public. This is for same-class, same-time, same-day only. The priority to register in advance ends after the first full week of each session, when at that time the classes for the following session will be open for everyone to sign up.”
- If you are a new student, you can register for classes as soon as registration is open to the general public. The registration dates are noted on the home page of our website.
- I tried to sign up for the same class for next session, but the registration page says that the class is full. What can I do?
- For our Fall II, Winter and Spring sessions, we offer priority registration for current students that want to sign up for the same class. Priority registration is offered during the first week of each session for the following session. If it is important for you to keep the same day/time for your class, please register during the priority registration period! After the priority registration deadline passes, the classes are open to the general public on a first-come, first-serve basis. At this point, we cannot override the class limits to keep players in the same class. So please, don’t wait until the last minute to register.
- I don’t remember my user name or password to register online. What should I do?
- Your user name is the email address that you used initially used to register. If you do not remember your password, or you don’t think you ever had a password, you can request a password using your email address REQUEST PASSWORD If you are still having trouble, just give us a call at the club, and we will be happy to help!

- I signed up for a class, but I changed my mind. Can I get a refund?
- Please be sure that you want to sign up BEFORE you register. We do not offer refunds on class registrations. We do not give cash refunds. Refund Policy
- I started class a few weeks ago, but now I am injured. What happens now?
- If you cannot finish your session due to an injury, with a doctor’s note, we will gladly offer you “Club Credit” to be used at a later date. Credits can also be extended to other members of the family. Please be sure to call and let us know about the injury and provide a doctor’s note. Club Credit will begin from the date you have notified the Club, unless your class is less than 24 hours from notification – in that case the credit will being the following week. Refund Policy
- REFUND POLICY: NO REFUNDS ON CLASS REGISTRATIONS. Once registered for a class, if you are injured or have an illness that leaves you unable to attend for an extended period of time, with a doctor’s note, we will be happy to give you a “Club Credit” to be used at a later date. This does not apply to situations where a couple of classes are missed because something else comes up*. Club Credit can be used for club programs and/or member court time fees and can extend to anyone in the immediate family. Private lessons, pro shop items and stringing services are excluded. To use your club credit, please call (248-253-9300) or stop by the desk to register. It is not possible to apply the credit yourself with our online registration system. No cash refunds.
- *This is for players that are sick or injured. If you are not sick or injured, this does not apply to you.
