Adult USTA League
USTA League Tennis – Southeastern Michigan

USTA Leagues are part of a National adult recreational tennis program for men and women players. League play is offered in several skill levels from novice to advanced abilities. USTA Leagues offer singles and doubles team competition from local, district and sectional levels, culminating with a National Championship.
Wessen Indoor Tennis Club is a host for league competition. Teams are declared and organized by captains. We can pass your information along to one of our captains who may be looking for additional players.
FALL LEAGUES
Teams are declared in August, with matches played from September to December. Team formats are dictated by the District Office, and may vary from year-to-year.
SEMTA USTA LEAGUE – FALL 2024
- Combo Doubles (18 & over) – 3 courts of doubles
- New Men’s Level – 5.5 men’s combo (18 & over) 3 courts of doubles combinations of 3.0/2.5 or 2.5/2.5
- Team Singles (18 & over) – 3 courts of singles
- Mixed Doubles (55 & over) – 3 courts of mixed doubles

- Team Minimums Due: Noon – August 26th

- Matches Begin: Weekends – September 27, 28 & 29

Combo Doubles – 3 courts of doubles
- Women – Day League 5.5, 6.5 & 7.5 – matches are played on Wednesday*
- Women – Weekend League 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 & 8.5 – matches are played on weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun)
- Men – Weekend League – 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 & 8.5 – matches are played on weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun)
All combinations are allowed, with no limitations between partners. The only rule is that when added together, ratings cannot exceed the league level. *Women may play on either a day team or a weekend team of the same level.
Team Singles – 3 courts of timed singles
- Players must play at their level – no one may play up.
- Matches are timed at 1.5 hours.
- Women may only play on one team – either a day team or a weekend team
- Levels offered: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+ (5.0 player must play only #1 spot)
- Matches are played on the weekends: Friday/Saturday/Sunday
55 & Over Mixed Doubles – 3 courts of mixed doubles
- Levels – 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 & 9.0
- Players must be at least 55 years of age at anytime in 2024.
- Matches are played on Sundays.
- Midwest Playoffs – January 2025; Clubs at River City-Racquet Club South, Peoria IL
- National Invitational – March 14-16, 2025 Scottsdale, AZ
WINTER LEAGUES
Teams are declared in November/December with matches played from January to April. Team formats are dictated by the District Office, and may vary from year-to-year. End-of-year ratings for adults are published during the first week of December. Team numbers are distributed to team captains after the year-end ratings have been published.
SEMTA USTA LEAGUE – WINTER 2025
- Winter League Choices: 40+ Mixed-Doubles; Tri-Level; Singles
- Matches will begin the weekend of January 17th
- Date for team minimums: January 2nd at 12:00 PM
- Registration Fee: $24 per player
- Special Registration Fee for Captains: $3.15
- Target Date for Schedule Release: January 20th

Age 40+ Mixed Doubles – 3 courts of mixed-doubles
- Levels available: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0
- Matches are played on the weekends – Friday/Saturday/Sunday
- District Championships will be in late April or early May.

SE Michigan Tri-Level Showdown – 3 courts of doubles

- Day Women 4.0, 3.5, 3.0
Matches are on Wednesdays – Matches will begin on January 24th.
If there are two or more flights, there will be a local playoff with the August flight winners.
- Men 3.5, 3.0, 2.5
Matches are played on the weekends: Friday/Saturday/Sunday
If there are two or more flights, there will be a local playoff, with no additional advancement.
- Men 4.5, 4.0, 3.5
Matches are played on the weekends: Friday/Saturday/Sunday
If there are two or more flights, there will be a local playoff, with the winner advancing to States.

Team Singles – 3 courts of timed singles matches (1.5 hours)
- Levels available:
- Coed: 2.5
- Men: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+
- New this Winter: 3.0-Minus Men’s Singles. This league will allow a 2.5 player to play in the 3rd singles position. 2.5 men are eligible to play on a 3.0-minus team and a 2.5 co-ed team.
- Women: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+
- Matches are played on the weekends: Friday/Saturday/Sunday
- Singles players must play at level – no one may play up EXCEPT for the 3.0-minus men’s league, where a 2.5 player can play in the #3 position.
- $20 per match
SUMMER LEAGUES
Summer Leagues – Teams are declared in March with matches played from May to August. Team formats are dictated by the District Office, and may vary from year-to-year.

- Adult 18 & Over: Men & Women’s 2.5-5.0+
- Adult 40 & Over: Men & Women’s 3.0-4.5+
- Adult 55 & Over: 6.0-9.0
- Adult 65 & Over: 6.0-8.0
- Mixed 18 & Over: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0
- Tri-Level: 3.5, 4.0 & 4.5 (begins in August)
Adult League Descriptions
18 & Over: Five courts* (2 singles courts and 3 doubles courts) compete in matches once-per-week starting in May. Flight winners progress to District Championships in August.
*2.5 and 5.0+ play three courts (1 singles court & 2 doubles courts)
40 & Over: Five courts (2 singles courts & 3 doubles courts) compete in matches once-per-week starting in May. Flight winners progress to District Championships at the end of July.
55 & Over: Combined levels (doubles team player ratings added together.) Three courts (3 doubles courts) compete in matches once-per-week starting in May. Flight winners progress to District Championships in August/September.
65 & Over: Combined levels (doubles team player ratings added together.) Three courts (3 doubles courts) compete in matches once-per-week on Fridays during the day starting in May. Flight winners may advance to further play, which could include a State Championship and/or Sectional Championship. Any advancing play would occur in the fall.
Mixed Doubles Leagues
18 & Over: Combined levels (doubles team player ratings added together.) Three courts compete in matches once-a-week on Friday nights starting at the end of June. Flight winners progress to District Championships in August/September.
40 & Over: Combined levels (doubles team player ratings added together.) Three courts compete in matches once-a-week on Friday nights starting in May. Flight winners progress to District Championships in July.
Singles Leagues
18 & Over: The league consists of 3 courts of singles. Players must play at their rating in this league. Matches will be best of 2 sets with a Match Tiebreak (10-point) played if each player wins a set. Matches are limited to 90 minutes in length.
Tri-Level: League play begins in August. Separate men’s and women’s teams – 18 & Over. Division 1 [3.5, 4.0, 4.5] Division 2 [2.5, 3.0 & 3.5]. Division 1 has a Midwest Championship.
