Lateness Rule – USTA Tournaments

The lateness clock will start when the scheduled match time has arrived, any court is available, and one or
both players have not arrived (checked in).

The Point Penalty System Schedule for lateness must be enforced at all USTA sanctioned
tournaments. It is as follows:

• 0 – 5 minutes 1 Game + loss of toss
• 5 – 10 minutes 2 Games + loss of toss
• 10 – 15 minutes 3 Games + loss of toss
• > 15 minutes Default

While the loss of game formula must stay in place the tournament director, at his/her discretion may hold the default up
to 45 minutes for extenuating circumstances. According to USTA regulations, an extension is never allowed
beyond 45 minutes.
